“Malafaia Romana” returns to Várzea on Friday and Saturday

The “Malafaia Romana” returns on Friday to the Arouca parish of Várzea, continuing on Saturday until the end of the night, in a festive revival of aspects of life in the ancient Roman Empire, inspired by the “Casal Romano da Malafaia”, a preserved archaeological site, located near the local Civic Center.

Organized by the Parish Council of Várzea, the Arouca Archaeology Center (CAA) and the municipality of Arouca, the event will feature local and regional groups, with a cultural nature and experience in historical recreations.

António Manuel Silva, president of the CAA, highlighted that the programme outlined will take place along the same lines as previous years, defining it as “an entertainment programme set against the backdrop of the Roman ruins of Malafaia”.

The expert highlighted the Roman play “The Comedy of the Lunchbox”, by the author Plauto, which will be presented on Friday and Saturday nights (10 pm), with interpretation by the Theatre Group of the VaP association -Voltado a Poente, from Romariz, a town in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira.

He also highlighted workshops, recreations of games and other moments that take as a reference the day-to-day life of the civilization born in Rome.

He stressed that the “Roman Camp”, always an attraction, will be under the responsibility of Emcadeamentos - Association for the promotion of Historical-Cultural Heritage, a community of Espinho.
